Marlon Quintas dos Santos e Silva aka DJ Marfox is one of the pioneering producers of Afro-Caribbean music in the new century and one of the shining stars of Lisbon’s Príncipe Records crew, as well as recording for labels like Warp, Lit City, Enchufada, and Mental Groove. His productions regularly top end-of-the-year lists in magazines like FACT, Mixmag, Resident Advisor, and Crack, and his unique sound has led to remix offers from a diverse cast including Fever Ray, KOKOKO!, and Panda Bear. A proud descendant of parents from the Central African island nation of São Tomé and Príncipe, Marfox’s sound is inspired by Angolan kuduro, high-energy African rhythms, videogame sounds (he’s named after the Nintendo game Starfox), and the pulse and sound of the backstreets of Lisbon.
