MINION
Minion combines elements from opposite ends of the electronic music spectrum, blending the tough textures of hardcore with softer, more delicate tints. Offering searing yet hazy trips through sound, Minion's music ripples with tension and spirit, balanced with serene touches at just the right moments.
Born in Orange County, and based in Los Angeles, California, the producer started to explore dance music in the early 90s. Listening to the iconic L.A.-based radio station MARS FM, aka the go-to station for quality house and techno at the time, Minion's musical education branched out further, swapping mixtapes with friends and at local swap meets. A confessed music nerd from a young age, he developed a liking for bands such as Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Public Enemy, Wu-Tang Clan and everything in between.
As a producer, Minion draws influence from several innovative platforms, artists and musical groups. Imprints like punk label Bloody Fist Records, London hardcore outlet DHR, noise and breaks label Praxis, experimental artist Christoph de Babalon, dark techno producer Lory D and live duo Somatic Responses have slid under Minion's radar over the last two decades. Local friends in Southern California, including Resurrector, Baseck and Diskore, have also inspired him along the way. Minion's EP 'Nite Lyfe', released on Los Angeles-based label EVAR in 2023, is a potent mix of gritty and turbulent sounds polished off with a celestial hue.
